Top 5 Saddest Cricket Moments

Cricket is generally referred as a Gentle Man’s game but we have seen players expressing their emotions on and off the field

I’ll share the top 5 saddest cricket moments caught on camera according

5.Dale Steyn after losing semi-final of ODI WC 2015

Steyn gun fell on the ground after being hit for a six in the last over. That six had ruined the hopes of South African cricketers from reaching their maiden final. Even a player like Ab De Villers despite being known for having a good attitude on the field couldn’t stop crying after losing the match. That match affected Steyn so much that he couldn’t perform the same way after that loss. It was a sad affair for the SA side which was full of legends like AB, Morkel, Amla, Faf, Tahir, Miller, Dummy and many more. The fact that might hurt South African’s will be that their greatest player ABD could never lift the WC which he deserved the most

4.Virat Kohli after T20 WC 2016

This man carried the team’s batting on his back for almost the whole tournament. Scored the second highest runs in that tournament. Yet this man couldn’t win the cup. It was a double heart-break for Virat’s fans as RCB had also lost the IPL finals that year and now India had lost the semi-finals. It’s unfortunate that the best batsman of the previous decade couldn’t win four trophies despite going into the playoffs.

3.Ben Stokes after Finals of T20 WC 2016

One of the best all-rounder currently had the worst nightmare in the finals of 2016 T20 WC held in India. Being put to bat England had put 155/9 on a sluggish Eden Garden pitch. In return West-Indies were 137/6 with 19 needed of the last over to be bowled by Stokes. Little did Stokes knew that it would be the worst over ever to be bowled by him, Brathwaite hit Stokes first four balls 6,6,6,6 and the match was over. After 3 years finally Stokes became a hero after winning the ODI WC 2019 for his country but Stokes would surely regret that night of 2016.

2.Kane Williamson after ODI WC 2019 Finals loss

Kane had carried the entire team on his shoulders and had even scored close to 600 runs. He had done excellent captaincy throughout the World-Cup yet his team lost due to a stupid boundary rule. But one man’s loss became some other person’s gain. Stokes was able to win a WC for his team and he became a hero. Still Kane would have felt a lot bad as his team had lost two successive WC’s but now he won the WTC for his team.

1.Rohit, Dhoni crying after semis loss to NZ in ODI WC 2019

Rohit had scored the most number of centuries in a WC yet one failure of our top-order and one of the best wicket-keeper batsman in history ”MS. Dhoni” couldn’t lift the World Cup in his last appearence. Even the GOATS MS and Rohit couldn’t control their emotions after Dhoni lost his wicket via a run-out. Never had I seen tears in Rohit’s and Dhoni’s eyes before this but a single wicket brought tears.

Honorable mentions- David Warner and Steve Smith crying in their interview after getting banned from playing cricket for one year, Phillip Hughes’ death
