Some Moments When Rahul Dravid Lost His Cool

Rahul Dravid has always been a true Gentleman when it comes to carry himself on the cricket field. During his playing days we rarely saw him lose his temper. Be it an altercation with Michael Slater or running into Shoaib Akhtar in the 2004 Champions Trophy, Rahul Dravid rarely lost his cool.

Some Moments When Rahul Dravid Lost His Cool

There may have been a few looks and snarls during those face offs but as soon as the next delivery was bowled Rahul Dravid was back doing what he does best i.e to crush the ego of the bowler with a solid defence.

However, as he was nearing his retirement he started to have a bit of anger issues. In that era, Cricket was changing and the bowlers were getting more aggressive verbally unlike their predecessors.

In 2013, in a match against Mumbai Indians in IPL, Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson sledged Rahul Dravid while Dravid was batting. However, this time Dravid did not held himself back and walked up to Johnson and asked him to bowl. Along with his words, Dravid even replied with the bat as he hit the next ball of Johnson for a boundary.

The very next year Rahul Dravid was back as the mentor of Rajasthan Royals this time. It was a qualifying match for the Royals but they failed to qualify as Mumbai Indians batsman Aditya Tare hit a last ball six. The entire Royals dugout was upset but Dravid was a tad more upset as he threw his cap in the ground in disgust.

But apart from these couple of instances, there wasn't any such significant incident of the Wall losing his temper publicly.

Infact in a show called "Breakfast with Champions" with Gaurav Kapoor, Rahul Dravid admitted that he shouldn't have flung his cap that day as it was unlike his nature. But he also gave an indication that he was willing to break his image of "Good Guy".

And this kept the people wondering about what Rahul Dravid was going to do next.

In 2021, Rahul Dravid was back again in the news but this time on the road. The man who used to be a gentleman while standing in queues or while waiting in traffic started to yell at other drivers and passengers from his car.

There were even instances when he warned them they shouldn't dare to overtake his car unlike his playing days when the batsmen scored more runs than him more often than not.

The man who used to give smiles and autographs to fans has now started to throw cold drinks in their panes. Infact things have gone so out of control once that Rahul Dravid even ended up breaking the rear mirror of a car with his bat.

You could see it clearly from the intensity in the eyes of Dravid.

The man who was proudly called, "The Wall of Indian Cricket", now proudly calls himself as Indiranagar ka Gunda. Infact his dialogue of “Indira nagar ka gunda hoon main” has even pushed the iconic villains into the dark.

Thus, you can clearly see that how Rahul Dravid has come to terms with the angry side of himself…
