Step Down Of Virat Kohli- The T20I Captain

16th September 2021 it was a normal day for the cricket fraternity untill the news about Virat Kohli's decision to step down as India's T20 captain start flashing on all the news channels. All the fans are shocked that before cricket world Cup how can Virat announce about leaving captaincy after world Cup. After the event there are different set of opinions in cricket world that whether his decision to step down as captain is wrong or absolutely correct.

Virat informed in his open letter that he is leaving his captaincy as he was not able to manage his workload. He stated that he is continuously captaining national side in all 3 formats from last 4-5 years and we all know it is not at all an easy task. Now some people are questioning about the timing of the decision. They think that it will have a negative impact on the world Cup campaign of team as if team either win or lose Virat will leave the captaincy questioning the approach of Virat in world Cup.

A major section is supporting Virat in his decision as in present times many players like Ben Stokes have taken a break from cricket giving the reason as workload management and mental fatigue from which international players suffer due to bio-bubble and high intensity competitive cricket all round the year.  Split Captaincy will be implemented in Indian team which is also a very good thing as split captaincy is the new formula in cricket and all other nations are also practicing the same.

In all it was finally the personal decision of Virat and we all should respect it as he is a very mature player and in the letter he also mentioned that whole leadership group which consists of Rohit Sharma, Ravi Shastri and selectors is involved in his decision so in the end his decision is right and justified and we all hope that team India will continue to shine and will bring the t20 world cup trophy home after 14 years.
